God’s Word for Today: You. On the final day of “winner’s week”, we get to the most important trait of being a winner. That aspect is you. No one else can choose to be a winner for you. Not one person in this world will make you a winner. They may help. They may coach. They may set an example. But you and only you can make the decision to be a winner.
In this day and age of almost immediate gratification, self-focus is quite abundant. We have a tendency to think of ourselves first and everyone else second. This has been widely criticized. I find myself judging others when all they focus on is their own happiness and reward before they ever think of anyone else. They have a strong desire to serve themselves. But then, I look in the mirror. I am no better. So then you say, “How can I choose to make myself a winner if putting myself first is not a winning attitude?”
That my friend is the fine line between winners and losers. To be a winner, you must first prepare yourself. You have to get in shape. Whether this is physically or mentally, you have to exercise. You have to practice. You have to educate. You have to improve yourself, to be a winner. Some people seem to have a natural ability to be winners. Even they find out that someone who has worked harder and longer is eventually going to beat them.
If you look at your life as a constant battle. If every day seems to be consumed with struggle. If you are just plain tired of losing, then it is time for you to review your approach to life. There is a way to be a winner. You are the only one who can do it.
John 14:23. Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
This is the very first step for you to be a winner. You can and you must love Jesus. There is no other way. Right here, right now, is where you might give up on GWFT. You might have a different opinion. Your point of view on life might choose a whole other path. I believe though, if you are still reading this, you are still trying to be a winner. You know that there is more to your life than what you face every day. You may never read GWFT again. If you choose to love Jesus first, then GWFT has done what it is intended for. That is all this post has ever wanted to accomplish. To turn on one little light in your life that through God’s love will light up your whole world.
Today is a good day to read Ephesians 6. Some pretty good winner’s advice there. If today is too busy, if reading this far into GWFT has taken all your time, then please take a little time tomorrow to read Ephesians 6. If possible, read it twice. I guarantee you, there will be a verse or two that jumps out and grabs your heart. There might be 90% of it that doesn’t pertain to you. Just like most days with GWFT, they don’t fit your life. But, find that 10% that does fit. Start applying it to your life. Find that line you need to cross to be a winner.
Today, know that first and foremost you need to get yourself in shape. Just like any member of a winning team. As individuals, they work on their weaknesses and improve on their strengths. The better conditioned they are, the more they can contribute to their team. Same with your Christian walk. Work on loving Jesus first. Then, everything else will start coming together. Then, you will be a winner. You have it in you. God put the winner’s ability right in your heart. It is time to take it for a run………….
Prayer: My loving God, thank you for this day. Thank you for your many blessings. Today Lord, I can’t quite grasp this winning thing. I have tried many, many ways to win in my life. Success has been found, but winning still seems to be falling short. I know thru Jesus, you have given me the route to run. I pray today that as a team, you and I God can become a winner. Then, God, maybe we can help others win too. In Jesus’ name I will always pray. Amen
