YOU ARE SOMEBODY
One day I was told I was nobody
Not one certain person, not one singular event.
Just a passage of time
Moments of life not well spent.
The next day I was still nobody
Wasting, rotting, and decaying away.
I wanting to climb but continued to fall
Each and every passing day.
How long could I remain nobody
Only time could tell.
I knew there was better
I knew I could do well.
Then one day God spoke to my nobody
With the quietest, gentlest voice.
My child you are somebody
Today I give you a choice.
If you want to become somebody
Here is my word, here is my hand.
I made you to live, to give, to love
Take it, accept it, there is no demand.
For I created you as somebody
To prosper, to grow, to learn.
I made you a somebody
A gift from me I ask you return.
You will be my somebody
To touch the lives of all you should know.
You will bring them joy, warmth, and memories
A child you will help grow.
Now I am living as somebody
So much to do, so much that I could.
I do not rest, I give it my all
I live life to its fullest just as I should.
But then God spoke to my somebody
Forever too soon I need you here with me.
Your job done well, so many you blessed
For now my son, you will always be………………………………….. Their Somebody.
