God’s Word for Today: Where
John 8:14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going.
Today’s photo is simple. Where am I? I have not “checked in” as to my whereabouts via Facebook, so you can’t cheat there. And yes, it is at an airport. That part is a give-me. The question is, what airport, where?
I will apologize for the photo not being the ultimate. It is a cloudy, kinda of dreary day here and I believe the sun is playing hide and seek with me. Thus, our bright shiny ball of flame that keeps us alive here on earth is playing the same “where am I” game with me.
Today, as with most scheduled travel, I know where I came from and I know where I am going. Odds are pretty good that I will end up at my final destination sometime tomorrow. That of course, is said with a whisper of “The Good Lord Willing”.
When we take this whole, where am I, thought and place it as a question in our daily lives, answers tend to be a little vaguer. On this Mother’s Day, we acknowledge where we came from. There isn’t a person out there including Jesus himself that didn’t know and love the woman who was responsible for their existence. Even the Moms some will never know, who had to make the most difficult decision ever, to give up their child to another mother, so that child could have a chance at a better life. We all know where we came from. Jesus didn’t have one up on us in the where question there. God created each and every one of us. You, me, Jesus, and the rest of the world.
Then, we get to where are we going. That is where the God creating us, starts to get a little vague. Some have done a good job of completely erasing God out of their lives. Some never have even been introduced to God and what he is all about. (You and I have some work to do). And some, keep God on a convenient shelf. This paragraph is not being judgmental. It is simply stating fact.
Where am I, is a good question to start asking yourself every day. I know I have been in the position a few times that I really didn’t care to review the answer to where am I. I am ashamed to reveal, some of the where am I in my life, places I have found myself. That is my problem. It is between God and I. We are working on it. Can you relate?
Today, know that God is the only one who really knows where you are at all times. And God is the only one who knows exactly where you are going. At all times. Some of us have a pretty good route planned out. Kinda funny how God can throw in a detour or a delay every now and again. Funny is probably not the right word. There is nothing funny about how our lives have been drastically changed by one sudden and unplanned event. I struggle to find the correct word to describe God’s direction of “where am I”. You are welcome to have your own word. The important thing though, is to take a good look today, at your, where am I. What would your Mom say? What would Jesus say? I lay odds on the fact, that they both love you unconditionally where ever you are…….
Prayer: God, creator and director of my where am I. Thank you for all of the where am I’s in my life that you have Blessed me with. Forgive for the where am I’s that I have chosen on my own. Some of those are going to hurt for a long time. Today Lord, I thank you for my Mom. And I thank you for my Jesus. In Jesus’, who when called, will turn your where am I around, name I pray. Amen and amen.
