God’s Word for Today: Want
Luke 18:41. “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied.
Many years are spent teaching our children the difference between need and want. Some catch on, and realize the huge line that defines wanting that piece of candy versus needing to eat that piece of fruit. Sadly, some of us never learn the all-important want versus need. I have been guilty many times. Truthfully, we need very little to survive. It is the want thing that drives us.
Today’s verse is really cool. Here, we have a blind man who has never seen any of the beauty of this world. But when Jesus asks him what he wants, his simple reply is “Lord, I want to see.” Notice he did not say that he needed to see. He had already figured out how to navigate through life without his sight. But, he sure wanted to see.
Today, realize how much closer you can come to God by simply wanting to be near to Him. Yes, there are critical times in our lives when we really need God. More important though, you have to want God, to be in your life……………
Prayer: Dear Lord who I need in emergencies. Forgive me for only turning to you in need. Today, I want you to walk with me. Tomorrow I want you in my life too. In Jesus’, who wanted to love us all, name I pray. Amen and amen.
