God’s Word for Today: Unfailing
Psalm 33:18. But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope in in his unfailing love.
Don’t you wish your vehicles were unfailing? Yesterday, I jumped in my company truck to head back to my current location of work, and there were problems. The check engine light that normally comes on and they politely fades out, after a couple seconds of diagnostic checks, decided it wanted to stay on. Then, it started speaking to me about “Service Traction control” and “Service Stabilitrak”. Yeah, it was a Holiday yesterday, and I was at least 25 miles from the nearest dealership. I was going to get right on that service demand.
The worst part was, I could tell the truck wasn’t running right. It reminded me of the old school vacuum hose systems when the main hose running from the carburetor to the transmission came loose or got a hole in it. I looked under the hood and underneath the truck the best I could, but didn’t find anything obvious. Running not quite normal, I made the required trip anyway. It will be interesting what the dealership finds tomorrow at the appointment I made first thing this morning.
How much of our lives are this way? It would be nice if our bodies were unfailing. It would be even better if our minds were unfailing and we didn’t have to deal with bad thoughts and worries and anxieties and all that other stuff that makes us not run quite right.
Today, know that we are not unfailing. We are going to fail in so many ways. The one constant in our lives, is God’s love for us. That love is unfailing. Everything else in this world will sooner or later fail. Always know that God’s love for you won’t. Even if the traction control in your life needs a little service………………..
Prayer: Dear Lord, whose love for me is unfailing, I thank you. Forgive me for the times I fail. I am trying, God. Help me today to repair some of my failing areas. In Jesus’, who was living proof of your unfailing love, name I pray. Amen and amen.
