God’s Word for Today: Shade Tree
In trying to describe the difference between sub-tropical to tropical climates like those found in Paraguay/Brazil versus to the more temperate climates found in USA, I often use the example of a shade tree. In most states of USA, going from the sun into the shade of a tree gives more relief from the eyes than anything. Temperature change is not that dramatic. And, I remember a few hot and dry Nebraska days when the temperature in the shade was just as extreme as the sun filled areas.
But, in the parts of Paraguay and Brazil that I am familiar with, the simple act of stepping from the brilliant skin frying sunshine into the pools of immediate relief shade, is an act of vast intelligence. You could almost compare the barrier line between sunshine and shade as being similar to night and day. There really is that much of a difference. Throw a slight breeze into the recipe of a shade tree, and you will see visions of the relief Heaven promises.
Genesis 21:33. Let a little water be brought, and then you may all wash your feet and rest under this tree.
There are times in our life when we find ourselves being slowly cooked by the burdens of this world. The searing pain of worry, sorrow, guilt, anger, frustration, and countless other negative fires tend to burn the joy out of our lives. You can feel the heat of all aspects of hell literally roasting your desire to live.
That is the time my friend, to turn to the relief of the ultimate shade tree that God offers. The shadow Jesus provided for you as He hung on the cross will protect you from every ray of bad this world tries to provide. All you need to do is, seek the protective comfort God has offered to you through the resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ. Come, leave your burdens out in the sun. Rest under the shade tree the Good Lord has provided. Amen and amen…………….
