God’s Word for Today: Satisfaction
Ecclesiastes 5:18. This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot.
Yesterday, we talked about chasing the wind of whatever. It is a matter of trying to find some satisfaction in our lives. Some people are lucky and find it quickly. This enables them to enjoy life. Others finally find it, but almost too late. It wore them out. And others are like the Rolling Stones who “Can’t get no satisfaction”. Great song, terrible way to go through life.
God has a better plan. First though, you must find Him where He is waiting. God is either having a good laugh, or getting frustrated watching you try to find satisfaction in the lures of this world.
Today, have God help you find satisfaction in the everyday things in your life. The birds singing in the morning. A good book. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich. A child’s laugh. The beauty in your loved one’s smile. A job well done. God has your satisfaction just waiting for you to stop and claim.
Prayer: Dear Lord, who freely can give me satisfaction. Forgive me for chasing the wind again today. Help me to be satisfied with the little things. Those will add up to the big things. In Jesus’, who died for my peace, name I pray. Amen and amen.
