God’s Word for Today: Paint
Proverbs: Like apples of gold in settings of sliver is a ruling rightly given.
I don’t know about you, but I believe I have never, ever had today’s verse quoted to me in reference to anything. I might have possibly heard a sermon at one time using this verse, but my mind was either wandering, or I was taking a nap. Today, I am wide awake and ready to take on some apples of gold that are set in silver.
I suppose if I was to come upon or own such a luxury, I might have sold my apples of gold when gold had hit its peak. I mean, why not cash in and buy something more useful, like…………... food? So, I guess we can eliminate ownership of golden apples, and just try to imagine how fine they really would be.
Today’s picture is more my type of golden apple. I always had an envy for those who could paint. Yes, I can paint a wall, a room, or even a complete barn. But to put something beautiful on canvas? Not in my forte. I suppose I could do some rather scattered splashes of brilliant colors and call it abstract. But my organized and everything in its place mind, might prevent me from even a hint of random anything.
So, I will submit myself to the appreciation of other’s artistic abilities. God’s talent, at the top of the list. I don’t have a clue what the name of this plant is. I have been told it will grow as tall as me. Will it maintain its beauty with increased altitude? I don’t know. I admire how God seemed to randomly splash some yellow all over different shades of green. I call it the John Deere plant. Maybe someone can fill me in on the proper name.
But, God did give me the ability to paint a picture. God gave you the ability too. Look toward the end of today’s Scripture. It expresses the value of a ruling rightly given.
First, picture a ruling rightly given. Happiness dances throughout the room. Justice and fairness are in the right place. Life is good.
Your life is a constant day of decisions. Any amount of rulings rightly given can be applied to you today. Think of the latest event in your life that just wasn’t fair. All the golden apples in their silver settings can go take a hike. Life has its ups and downs and this down is no good. To heck with pretty paintings and beautiful flowers. It is a good time to sit in the dark and feel bad. Maybe even blame someone else. Give them a piece of your unfair, and see how many golden apples they produce.
God knows life isn’t fair. Jesus found that out first hand. The paintings depicting Jesus’ body beaten, bleeding, and nailed to a cross are anything but a just ruling. Yet if you look close. If you really know Jesus for what He did, does, and will do for you, you will see that God still left a splash of Love in Jesus eyes.
Today, maybe you can’t see the beauty in today’s picture. Maybe to you, that plant is just a noxious weed. You are a long way away from a just ruling in your life. If so, know that right beside you, is your God. Right there in the dark and ugly world of your suffering is Christ sharing every drop of unjust with you. Also know that He is helping you out. God has a new painting He wants you to check out. He has something wonderful and glorious planned just for you. It is time for you to take the brush and paint…………….
Prayer: Dear Lord, who can paint more beauty into each day than I can ever describe. I thank you for what you paint for me. Forgive me for the days I only see and live ugly. I know you made me beautiful and wonderful Lord. Help me to paint that picture with my life. In Jesus’ who painted my Grace with His own blood, name I pray. Amen and amen.
