God’s Word for Today: Longest
Psalm 68:19. Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
Today, typically, is the longest day of the year called Summer Solstice. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, we have more minutes of sunlight than any other day of the year. It is my favorite. For those blessed to live in the Southern Hemisphere, today is your shortest day of the year. You will get to celebrate your longest day on December 21st. To get technical, these dates vary between the 20th to the 22nd. And, this year was special because it included a Full Moon called Strawberry moon.
If you think about it, whenever your longest day of the year is, that is when God will bear your burdens for the longest amount of time. That is, if you remember to lay your burdens at His feet when your sun came up.
Today, realize that every day, God if asked, will carry your burdens. No matter the longest day of the year, or the shortest. He will take them on. You simply need to stop trying to carry them yourself. God has much broader shoulders……………..
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the Light you shine each day. Forgive me for my longest days that I try to carry my own burdens. Help me to hand them to you each and every day. In Jesus’, the ultimate bearer of burdens, name I pray. Amen and amen.
