I KEPT MY WORD
Life delivers many days, each one a prequel.
New thoughts, real emotions, often new people.
Many come, few will stay, and most will pass.
Of the few that stay, even less will last.
Harry walked into my life by chance.
Rough and gruff, few words at glance.
I thought this man would be a hill to climb.
Then he smiled, spoke, and stole my time.
There was more to this man than met at first.
Cunning, wisdom, experience and a line well versed.
Harry knew his job and knew it well.
It was soon to be, and easy to tell.
A friend was made through toil and stress.
Many a day passed our feelings addressed.
Other days no words were shared.
I knew with Harry, that this man cared.
Not just work, or tasks to ascend.
His boss and workers, his family and friends.
Each was carried as an equal part.
Not on his sleeve, but complete in his heart.
There was pain that this man shared.
From the past not affecting he cared.
But always there to remind and carry.
You did not cross that line, with Harry.
But most important and deep within, a saver.
This great and good man you found, did not waver.
He had a code that could not be deterred.
Harry was a man, who continually kept his word.
And now the Great Master has called Harry to life everlasting.
His knock on the gate a prelude to determined passing.
For the word of Harry was set in stone.
Same as God’s word, “Your never alone”.
This chapter of my life now has open ways.
I will miss this man for the rest of my days.
I now long for those first words to be heard.
From Harry, Hello my friend, I kept my word.
