God's Word for Today: Key. Yesterday, we talked about locks and their hindrance on our lives. I also mentioned briefly about the key to those locks and the amazing way said keys are misplaced. Or, you have that mystery key that shows up one day. It could even be a key you have carried around for years with all your other keys, but really don't have a clue what that key unlocks.
Key, for today falls under the infamous quote, " The Key to Success". There is not one person out there who wouldn't love to find that key. Many have paid money for a hint of that key. But, they soon found out the person selling the secret for the key to success, is the only one actually making money.
This past week, I have had an interesting little communication with one Mr. Liu Qiang who is the Head of Accounting Department, DBS Bank, Hong Kong. I was first messaged by Liu Qiang via my association with LinkedIn which is supposed to be a business type media group for sharing professional connections. All previous people who I have added to my association were either people I knew, or were connected with a business that I had, or wanted to, connect to. Then, I get this request from Liu Qiang that at first seemed legitimate.
Liu Qiang asked to have me add him to my "network" of business associates because he wanted to discuss some matters that might interest my business. Good thing about internet, you can always take a peek, but actually have no real interaction or commitment. So, I emailed Liu Qiang as requested and waited for his reply. I figured anyone who contacted me through LinkedIn was legitimate and expending the extra effort to view my business profile prior to contacting me, might just be a valid customer.
Yesterday, I received Mr. Liu Qiang's email of upmost importance. Liu Qiang had a key that he was trying to dangle under my nose. I don't know if it was the key to success, but it was bait worth 5,685,009 British Pounds which is equivalent to a little over 8.5 million dollars. Very attractive key. And, it was exclusively mine because someone named Michael Terry Carlson and his family were killed in a car accident in Hong Kong 8 years ago. Liu Qiang was the personal account manager for Michael Terry Carlson, and has spent the last 4 years trying to find next of kin. Through his contact with the U.S. Embassy, he found my name. And, if I simply agree to confirm being next of kin and also agree to split the funds with Liu Qiang, we would all have an immediate key to success. I find it quite sad that someone else's tragedy is supposed to be my key to fortune.
My turt reply will probably not get a response. I actually hope it does. I am the curious sort, and would like to play with Liu Qiang a little while longer. I am actually just wanting to find out how much Liu Qiang's key is going to cost me up front. Makes for good writing material.
Matthew 16:19. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
There you go. No strings attached type offer. The true key to success. What better offer than to have the keys to heaven? Why do we spend a good portion of our lives looking for a key to success when it has been offered to us for like, ever? How many other keys must we try first unlocking this desire or that great thing, only to find emptiness right behind the bait?
Maybe part of the problem is summed up in another Bible verse. Don't you like how I sometimes squeeze 2 verses in one subject? Luke 11:52. "Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering."
Have you ever felt hindered in your own walk with God because some "expert" in certain words spoken, or unspoken, told you that you weren't good enough? I was highly criticized one time when I was trying to take the right path. Some of their comments were very true and needed my attention, but overall it hurt and launched a negative in me that took a long time to recover from.
Today, know that the key to success is yours for the taking. Your life on this earth is limited. Why spend all your energy attempting to find a key that you can't take with you when you die? Instead, today, you can have the key that gives you life everlasting. Maybe you already had that key in your hand at one time, but due to the desires of this world, you misplaced it. I am certain God knows where it is. You just need to ask. The only strings attached to that key you will find are ones that only can make your life richer, fuller, happier, and with more love than you have ever known. There really is only one key, and it is yours for the asking................
Prayer: My Dearest Heavenly Father, I thank you for your many Blessings. Forgive me Lord, I have lost my key. I know you are still holding onto it for me. Today, I ask for it back. I am ready Lord. The keys on this earth have been a ruse. When I consider what truly makes me happy, my family, my good friends, the beauty of this world, I realize that they all come from you Lord. I am clearing my key chain of the meaningless keys to empty success. I just need your key God. In Jesus' the one who first offered me my own exclusive key, name I pray. Amen.
