God's Word for Today: Fate. I believe this word is only used when one either decides to analyse their life's events, or maybe use fate to judge someone else. Personally, I don't know if I have used this word in either contex. Even the definition makes fate a complicated subject; a power or agency that predetermines and orders the course of events. In laymans terms, it is much easier to say; "s..t happens". I am sorry if this offends you, but sometimes getting real is the only fate we have.
I have seen it posted twice now in less than a week. The first time I saw this little blurb, I read it 4 or 5 times. When I saw it included in someone's post from last night, I believe in Latin, I just nodded my head in acknowledgment. The post goes:
Fate Whispers to the warrior
"You cannot withstand the storm"
and the warrior whispers back
"I am the storm"
I suppose some who read that say "Yeah right", while others nod their head in approval. We all at one time or another believe we are "the storm". And then there are those times when the storm tries to destroy us. I would always like to think I am the warrior that is the storm, but truthfully, I know better. Fate, come what may, can send one huddling in a dark corner.
Psalm 43:5. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
I can't say if it is fate, carma, or just life itself, but the storm of blows that come a person's way at times seem relentless. Then, there are times when we feel like we have this world in our grasp. We are the warrior, everyone else better stand back in reverence of our awesomeness.
We all know, the warrior being the storm, is temporary. Sooner or later, something, some event in our lives brings the world crashing down around us. Call it fate if you want. I tend to disagree. I think of it more as our imperfect world is always going to be imperfect. The way we handle this imperfection is what determines our level of warrior.
God gave you and I a way, the only way, to always be the warrior. Trying to be the warrior on your own is exhausting, and guaranteed, you will fall. But living each day with the strength God gives you, enables you to no longer fight the storm. With the quiet and calm assurance of God, given to us through Jesus, you can become the warrior that doesn't defeat the storm. You become the warrior that has the strength of a storm.
Today, reread the quote, then read today's scripture. You have a choice. You have this choice each and every day. Either be defeated by fate and the storm, or take fate in your hands as a warrior for Christ, and become the storm...................
Prayer: Dearest Lord of Power and Strength, today I come to you humbled. I have tried Lord to be a warrior on my own. Frankly God, it is just too much. This life, this world, my fate, has dealt me just too many blows. Alone God, I can't do it. Today Lord, I ask for hope in you. I will praise you as my Savior and my God. Together Lord, we can be the warrior that not only can face the storms of this life, but can bring on the storm of Love and Grace that fate will never defeat. In Jesus', my Savior, name I pray. Amen
