God’s Word for Today: Elevation
2 Corinthians 11:7. Was it a sin for me to lower myself in order to elevate you by preaching the gospel of God to you free of charge?
Elevation is something I work with every day in the Construction business. From set elevations in the ground, for water, electrical, sewer, and gas lines, to finished floor elevations, on up to ceiling and roof top elevations, and everything in between. Elevations are an integral part of building things.
Sometimes one runs into conflicts in elevations. Today for instance, one company was running a water line from city water to the water line we had already buried in the ground coming from our new building. The world was good, plans coming together, and then, the electric line that brings power to our building magically showed up at the exact same elevation of the water line. Something had to give. The water line had to jog under. More fittings needed. We made it work.
Many times we find ourselves on a different elevation from God. Some may think of God as always being on a higher plane above us that we always have to look up to. No matter what elevation we are at, we feel that God is looking down on us. Like a king of the mountain type thing. We don’t even have to be in the trench of life, and we still feel like God is over us. He is at an elevation that we can never attain until maybe we like……….. Die.
That isn’t what God is all about. So much of the love of God, is missed, if we always feel that God is looking down on us. Yes, if needed, God will reach down and help you out of the pits of hell this world can deliver. But, when God pulls you up, that is so you can be with Him at the same elevation. Then if needed, God takes another step up, reaches down, and helps you up to the next level in your life.
Today, know that God will join you at whatever elevation you are currently at. God does not want to rule over you. God wants to be with you at every level………………………
Prayer: Dear Lord who holds the greatest elevation. Forgive me for not letting you share my life at my level. I want to reach out to you Lord. In Jesus’, who made it possible for God and I to walk at the same elevation, name I pray. Amen and amen.
