God’s Word for Today: Change
1 Samuel 15:29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”
Change……. YAY…... or……. NOT. Just yesterday, I bit the bullet and downloaded Windows 10. Due some unknown factors about being in Paraguay, and my computer telling the electronic world my exact location, I was unable to install this “new and improved” Windows nightmare. But, now that my laptop is back in the USA, I finally was able to make the change.
And boy am I glad I did. Yeah, right. What a nightmare. Everything is supposedly still in my computer somewhere. It will just take the next 5 years to locate it. They have added a little “ask me anything” spot to help. I believe that is because they knew the average person would open up a can of confusion right after the brilliant Windows 10 install.
Now, I am on a continual Search and Rescue mission. Plus, I believe I am assigned a permanent Continuing Education course on how to navigate through these recent changes. My email is now in Purgatory or another undisclosed area. I simply click on “email” and get a blank page. Thank goodness I didn’t upgrade my phone at the same time. I might have lost touch with all electronic communication reality
Change can be difficult. Someone in their infinite wisdom believes that we always need change. The human brain is constantly trying to achieve a better mouse trap. I am quite certain that my original Window’s 8.1 was a perfectly good mouse trap. It has only taken me the last 2 years to perfect my path through that mess. Now, I will spend an unbelievable amount of time figuring out my new and improved 10.0 mouse trap. I once again, feel like I am the mouse clamped down in the trap and not able to break free. When will I ever be allowed to remain outdated and comfortable?
In all of the time since creation, God has only made 1 upgrade. Count it, 1. That upgrade was around 2000 years ago, and was a major change to our relationship with God. It was an upgrade that enabled all people from this world, access to their Creator. No longer was the path to God clouded with a tremendous amount of rules, regulations, and rituals. The old way was a confusing mess making it impossible for the common man to have a daily walk with his God.
So, God offered Jesus 1.0. Jesus even came in person to introduce this upgrade and give people an idea of what this change from God would include. The New Testament of the Bible was getting its start and introduced to the world what revisions would be made. It was an upgrade that all could easily follow; Matthew 18:3, And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
Today, put in modern language, hit the Jesus 1.0 upgrade button. Accept the terms and conditions, and your life will be changed forever. This change is permanent. This change will be the best upgrade you have ever received. Not complicated, not confusing, not difficult at all to navigate through. Man in his complicated mind has tried to make Jesus 1.0 another set of rules, regulations, and rituals to follow. But, if you stick to the basics and the Truth that Jesus himself brought to this world, you will be OK. Not only OK, but cleansed of your past that everyone wants to keep haunting you with. You will have a new screen to start building and adding a new set of God’s applications to guide you through your life……………
Prayer: Dear Lord, the only true constant. I thank you for offering the perfect upgrade and change for my life. Forgive me for not easily accepting your terms and conditions that man has tried to complicate. Help me stay with the basics of your Love and Grace. In Jesus’, who introduced the ultimate upgrade to change my life, name I pray. Amen and amen.
