God's Word for Today: Priority. We all use this word whether verbally, or strictly in decision making, priority is quite common. Just like yesterday, my priority was to enjoy some cake. It took almost all day and into the evening before that priority became a reality. Now, today's priority is to handle the digestion of all that cake.
This morning, when I took a peek to see what the world had done overnight, the first thing I noticed was Facebook offering me the new option of prioritizing my friends. This option has probably been here awhile, but this morning was my first acknowledgement of it. Initially, I thought SWEET, I can make sure those who are really important to me always have their posts as a priority, and therefore will not get buried in the other posts never to be seen by me. I also thought of some posts I would prefer to skip by and if I moved them lower on my priority list, I wouldn't be bothered by them.
Then, after about 2 seconds of contemplation, I smiled briefly, and took off down the line to see what anyone and everyone had posted while I slept. You see, I realized that I enjoy and want to hear from everyone. Each has their own individual way of presenting themselves whether it is every few minutes, every hour, once a day, once a week, maybe even only once a month, or only when something very important has happened. I don't care. I realize I am very truly blessed to have the privilege of each and every one of you as my friend. Under no uncertain terms could I ever begin to give one priority over another. If you are my friend on Facebook, there is a reason for it. No accidents, no priorities.
Then I thought about where this daily post would end up on other's priority list. I realized, that is your choice not mine. Would I prefer to be at the top? Well yes. But GWFT is not my choice, it is not my words, its purpose is decided by each individual. Some days, the Word fits. Some days it is good just to pass on by and find a clever meme that brightens your day. That is between you and the Man upstairs. I just know for me and the Good Lord, it is important that I write.
Galatians 1:10. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
If you think about it, what would be the result if God watched over this world like a Facebook page? First, you would need to put in a friend request. Fairly simple detail really, claim Jesus Christ as your Savior who died for your sins. So then, you have been accepted on God's page. Wow, now you can post anything you want and God will see it. Pretty cool. If you pray, you are already doing that. The best part, praying as as individual, you can post everything privately between you and God. Or, you can present other posts as a group that more can share, but God still gets it on His page.
Now, lets go one more step. Say God is more like us. Say God gets kinda tired of those who seem to only post stuff when it is a dire emergency. Or maybe, God has to see something every five minutes from you. Or maybe somewhere in the middle, but your posts only contain complaints or desires. Now God gets that notification that He can prioritize how he receives His posts. Where on the list do you think you would land? Would God want to hear and see everything you have to say? Would God put you lower on the list because your posts are too numerous and it makes Him miss some of the others that have more humor? Quite the thing to ponder. Where would you be on God's priority list? Would the Pope, Joel Osteen, and Billy Graham be at the top? Maybe if you think you could make the top 1/3 would that be good enough?
Today, realize God does have a priority list. Every time. I repeat, every time you bow your head in prayer, YOU just made the top of His priority list. It doesn't matter if you pray about every little thing every minute, or if it has been years since your prayed. It doesn't matter if you are there to complain, glorify, bitch, thank, whine, shout for joy, cry, or laugh. When you address God. When you take a moment to present one little post on God's page, He is listening. God is the only one who has a page where you and only you get His full attention. Kinda hard to imagine. You don't have to imagine, just simply believe.....................
Prayer: My Friend God, I thank you for accepting my request. Forgive me for doubting my status with you. I know through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, you put me at the top of your priority list. Thank you God for taking the time to listen to me. I pray that each day, I may find the time to increase my messages to you Lord. In Jesus, who put himself last so I could be first, name I pray. Amen.
